"Extreme Marksman"

For anyone who is interested, there is a 2 hour show on "The History Channel" tonight at 9p.m. Eastern, 6 and 10 p.m. Pacific. Sounds like the top shooters, and bow hunters will be featured.

Heh, did ya just see the guy trying to shoot thru the noose rope? I sorta though he wouldnt be able to do it in one shot because of the dynamics of rope

Me either. It sounded like a machine gun. I think he can shoot a revolver faster than anyone else can shoot an auto. 12 rounds in just under 4 seconds? Jeesh.

JJ, they will probably replay it during the week, or this coming weekend. If you have a tivo you can get it recorded automatically. I got a free tivo I guess since I've been a customer so long. Anyway, that thing starts recording shows that it thinks you will like automatically. Kind of scary. Like any other modern technology, it has it's good and bad points.

On August 20th, 1932 Ed McGivern set the "greatest rapid fire feat". This feat consisted of "firing two times from 15 feet five shots which could be covered by a silver half-dollar piece in 45/100's of a second".

Later in the article -

Jerry Miculek has attempted, and broken, some of McGivern's long standing records, such as the record for 60 shots fired from 10 revolvers. Miculek is one of the world's fastest revolver shooters, holding a number of records, such as 8 shots (from an 8 shot revolver) in 1 second, but his attempt to beat McGivern's 5 shot record resulted in a time of .57 seconds.[2] A testament to McGivern's ability was the fact that the 5 shot record was set in 1932, when McGivern was 58 years of age. Soon after that point, arthritis ended McGivern's competitive shooting career.[1]

Re: "Extreme Marksman"

So he fired 5 rounds in a half dollar circle in under 1/2 second, and he did it twice? I would guess that Jerry is in his mid 50's as well, if not 60ish. They showed McGivern in that show last night as well.
